In this beautiful building, Cursos Internacionales of the University of Salamanca offers classes of Spanish for foreigners. It is, with no doubt, the most international venue of the city of Salamanca, with a rich history, thanks to successive constructions and architectural modifications. This former Temple of San Bartolomé de los Apóstoles, built during the resettlement period, was reformed by Gil de Hontañón centuries later, in the XVI century. In the 17th century it was the School Virgen de la Concepción de las Niñas Huérfanas.
Between 1819 and 1829 it was the Colegio de la Magdalena, built to replace the one destroyed by the French in the area of Cerro de San Vicente during the War of Independence. Around 1940 it was used as the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé.
Nowadays, students from more than 100 different countries attend its many modern classrooms.
