Location and Access
Salamanca is located in the west of Spain in the autonomous region of Castilla y León 214 kilometres from Madrid.
If you are coming from outside Spain the simplest way to get here is to take a plane to Madrid (Barajas Airport) and then a bus (Avanza Bus) or train (RENFE); both run frequently. The journey from Madrid to Salamanca takes approximately two hours. If you are coming from Portugal or France you can travel by bus or train.

If you decide to take the bus, there is a bus line run by MonBus, which provides a direct service between Madrid-Barajas Airport and Salamanca. The Madrid-Barajas bus stop is located at Terminal 1, in the car park opposite the arrivals lounge. Bus tickets and timetables are available from the web page www.monbus.es/es, at regular ticket booths and inside the airport itself at the Viajes El Corte Inglés travel agency, located on the first floor of T1. There are regular bus services which, with a simple transfer, allow you to get to Salamanca from any Spanish or European city. To get to Madrid’s Estación de Autobuses Sur bus station (C/ Méndez Álvaro) from Madrid- Barajas airport, the best option is to take underground line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios, and then transfer to line 6 and head to Méndez Álvaro.

BY TRAIN

If you prefer to travel by train, RENFE has daily services to Madrid, Lisbon, Oporto, Paris, and all their connections. To get to the Chamartín train station in Madrid from the Madrid-Barajas Airport, take line 8 on the underground as far as the Nuevos Ministerios stop and then change to line 10 which will take you to Chamartín.
The Alvia trains take 1 hour and 36 minutes to travel between Madrid and Salamanca. You can consult the timetables on their website www.renfe.es or telephone +34 902 24 02 02.
